Disabled Veteran US ARMY Retired
Perscriptions for drugs you dont need but refilled automatically like it or not. Doctors are NOT available 98% of the time and you talk to a host of "Nurse Katchets" that came out of the script of "ONE FLEW OVER THE Cuckoo 's nest. They dont like patients, blind schedule everybody, push pills and basically just dont give a damn. Try to force you to go to Bham for healthcare - even though it is 80 miles away and VA defers to local private Doctors per VA rules. BUT VA Sheffield makes their rules up as they go - and ALL the rules are there to protect their bread-basket job and NOTHING else. The nurses will not even tell you the names of the THREE doctors that works there; since the main charge of these quack nurses is to keep VA patients from trying to access actual VA Doctors. All in all a horrible excuse for Health care and is it any wonder Congress continues to try (without results) to make these farcical idiots accountable!@
The last review two months ago is fairly accurate. Considering that 98% of the time my husband has never seen a doctor there except maybe after they do a fasting appointment. Then your lucky to see one after that pending the doctor doesn't have a emergency and cancels on you. Mind you my husband isn't retired like most and cancelling his appointment costs him money if he has to reschedule it. Like this week for example. Hopefully all goes well on Wednesday and he gets to see the doctor. Getting your medicines filled...even the ones that you don't take they will refill them anyway. Its especially hard to get them started back up if they discontinue them for some reason. All around not a great experience with this supposedly walk in clinic. At least that's what the Birmingham va hospital says it is...even tho unless you have an appointment they will make you wait forever to not see a doctor.
As a veteran, I feel very privileged to have the Shoals area CBOC located in my home area. They take excellent care of all my medical needs. Everyone there is so nice and attentive to each and every veteran and their familiy. The doctors, nurses, and support staff are some of the best in the country. Thanks Shoals area CBOC for all you do for us.
Always great! They try to treat everyone with respect, kindness and dignity even to the ones that come in upset, and rude, and just blasphemous. Not no way like an individual should act when wanting to be seen for their ailment or illness. I personally enjoy going to the Sheffield CBOC for VETERANS CLINIC on Cox Boulevard in Sheffield. I get treated very good by most in the CBOC, some of the girls are new and do not know us Veterans very well. I hope that they get better as time goes forward. The girls that have been there a little while treat me with dignity, respect and honor. These girls are wonderful to me.
The Doctor and entire staff truly care about each patient as an individual, not just a number. They take time to listen and to explain. Exceptional medical staff and good people.
Yours truly,
William A. Townsend
